Decluttering your home with The Holy Spirit!

Take a look around your home, what do you see that does not align with your core values? I like to ask myself:

Does this glorify God?

Does this align with the Word of God?

Is this distracting me from spending time with God?

There are several of these questions you could ask yourself and if you find things that do not align with the Word of God then get rid of it!

It really does bot matter how sentimental something is, the key is that your walk with God is priceless. There is no monitary or physical value to compare. This helps me a great deal.

We won’t take any of these to our eternal home. So while building your earthly home, thibk of your eternal home.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and our homes also should be a reflection of what is within. It should be Holy, set apart and a dwelling place for God.

We know that God loves to abide with us wherever we are. Take Zacchaeus, Jesus came to visit him in his home (Luke 19:1-10). There are so many other instances in the Bible of homes Jesus visited. Jesus is always with us, so He is in our homes! Making Him head of our home and always hosting His presence should guide our principles and help guide us with what we should have in our home.

The rich young ruler in the Bible is a great example. He wanted to follow Jesus, but he was too attached to his material things that were going to be a distraction to following Jesus. To follow Jesus, he would have to leave all and follow Him as the disciples did but he couldn’t (Luke 18:22).

We need to value things of this world with God’s value system. He created everything so He knows the true value and nothing is worth the value of our soul. Jesus Himseld died to purchase and redeem us with His own life! So, when we are decluttering and The Holy Spirit nudges us to get rid of some things in our home, listen and remember the words of Jesus:

Mark. 8 Verses 34 to 38[36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? [37] Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

You may miss these items but for sure you will have peace and peace is priceless, you can’t buy the peace God gives. Peace from obeying and peace from the release of having things that forfeit your peace. Perhaps each time you bever felt peace knowing you were holding unto something that you knew you had to let go. You will have peace in your inner man.

Our flesh always wants what it shouldn’t but that is the beauty of us believers, we don’t have to allow our flesh to govern our decisions (Romans 8:7-9). Whether or not our flesh is at peace with it, our inner man will be with God.

I practise this and can assure you it is freeing. Take it from a precious hoarder!

Thanks for reading what I had to share today!

God bless!
